Install System Center Essentials SCE 2007 on Windows 2008 Standard

Hi

Can you install SCE 2007 on a brand new windows 2008 server standard box?

It is a fresh install out of the box, no SQL, nothing. I would like to use the built in MSDE install, not full fledged SQL if possible.

I cannot find any documentation saying this can be installed.

Essentials SP1 is supported on Win2008 but there are a few hotfixes that you need to apply first. You find information is this KB;

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/953141

No support for MSDE and SQL2005 needs to be SP2 when you run Essentials on Win2008

When i run the install it says "Local SQL Reporting Service" must be installed, is this correct and what does this mean?

This is correct. SQL Server Reporting Service must be installed local on the management server even if SQL is installed on a different machine.
