The firm I work for are just about to install a new network which will include VOiP implementation. 
 
The service provider is trying to push us into a contract where we have very little control over our equipment. 
 
We will be using WS-C3560G-24PS-S - which they want to provide fully configured and managered - basically our I.T. department will not have access to the switches at all. 
 
I don't like the idea of this but I have limited Cisco Knowledge probably just short of CCNA level. 
 
My question is l 
1. Are all VOiP configuration the same ? 
 
2. &nbsp;If we employ a contractor and ask them to configure for VOip what information will they need ? 
 
3. Do WS-C3560G-24PS-S use CAT-OS ?

Voice Over IP

A switch is a device that filters and forwards packets of data between LAN segments. Switches operate at the data link layer or the network layer of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) Reference Model and therefore support any packet protocol. LANs that use switches to join segments are called switched LANs or, in the case of Ethernet networks, switched Ethernet LANs. A hub is a connection point for devices in a network. A hub contains multiple ports; when a packet arrives at one port, it is copied to the other ports so that all segments of the LAN can see all packets.
