unable to create an image of dc7800

I am using Acronis v.11 Recovery disk to create an image of the dc7800p sff to an external usb drive. I used the same application successfully to create an image of the HP 6170b notebook. However, when attempting to produce an image of the pc, it boots fine of the disk and it loads the acronis loader, but when i choose to use true image the screen goes black as the cdrom stops reading the cd data. I wonder if there are some perculiar BIOS security settings that stop the process. The difference between the 2 machines is the HP Security ProtecTools facility. I wonder if anyone has had this problem

Hi,

HP have a "little" problem with this series.  Don't know if its everywhere but here in canada, the cd reader awasn't able to read the cd provided by hp and just stop reading it as you mention.

The way i was bypassing the process was to use an external cd reader or to plug another one in ...

( And the 30 or some machine I had to do had the same problem )

ASKER

I have tried an external cd-rom drive BUT had no luck with it either. I'm sure there's a security setting in the BIOS somewhere that's stopping the process
