i want to create a modal box

I trying  to create the popup with the light box effect ... but i am new in javascript i dont not understand the  hard core javascript code can u guys help me in this ...

I just want to open my div with the effect of background fade just like lightbox

plz Excuse  me for my english

But need to use this on the multiple pages it will work or i need to add some more script

yes in this attachment u can see that ....that black bar is not covering the whole page to give the light box effect
