new macbook rumors?

Hi,

I'm looking to buy a macbook but I heard that a new macbook is coming out soon, therefore the prices on existing models will drop significantly. I don't want to buy one now then have the price drop $400 the next day! Anyone have any news on this, I've been searching every now and then about it but seems like mostly hoax photos and no real concrete news from Apple on this.

Thanks

All the rumours point to new MacBooks being announced Oct.14, 2008.

You won't hear anything from Apple in advance. However, you are sometimes tipped off to the imminent announcement of new  product by price drops of the old product or short supply.

Ok based on past experiences, when they announce the new product, how long until it's actual purchasable in a place of commerce (say BestBuy)? Is it on the order of weeks, months?

thanks
