How to update McAfee anti virus software through ISA 2004

We have just installed McAfee and found that we cannot update it through ISA 2004. I know now there is a McAfee product that has a ISA plug in but I am stuck with this version.

Hi Mark

I need a bit more information here.

What version of McAfee have you installed, and why can't you update it through the ISA server ?

Thanks
Si

It is McAfee Toal Protection for Small Business 4.5 and the auto update feature fails when trying to connect. I now know there is a product from McAfee for use with ISA 2004 but I am now commited to this othe product.

Hi Mark

As far as I am aware, there is not a version for use with ISA 2004, nor any version of ISA for that matter.

What you would need to do is to install the product on a machine with internet access, yes, you can specify just machine to access the download site and then you can get all the other machines to download from this 1 machine by using the Rumour Technology built in.

i would use the AV installed on the ISA Server and then get your other machines to download the updates from the ISA server.

Do you understand what I am saying or am I talking another language to you ?

Thanks
Si

The ISA server (SBS 2003) does update no problem but I do not know how to get the clients to update from the server as the only option seems to update from the net.

You need to set the ISA server as a Relay Server and all of the other machines will update from the relay server

Log in to your account and go to Help, then the Product Manual

Details are on page 48

Let me know if you need more assistance on this

Cheers
