iPhone, 2.1 firmware update, no more emails...
I have 2 people with iPhones. Prior to the 2.1 update, they worked fine recieving emails via IMAP to our 2003 exchange server. After the update, this is no longer the case.
I have port 143 open, even opened the firewall completely up to see if it was an issue, but still nothing with email. Is anyone else experiencing this?
I do not use exchange in the iphone, since I am told (by apple store rep) that this will only work with Exchange 2007.
Like I said, IMAP worked fine before 2.1 update, now I cannot get it to work at all.

On Friday, I got 1 of the iphones to connect, it pulled all emails but then stopped after that and has not worked since. I went back thru the settings, email server to see if I can see any logs on it, but cannot find anything. my settings are as follows:
Name: John Smith
address: jsmith@company.com
description: jsmith@company.com
Incoming mail server
Host name: mail.company.com
username: jsmith
password: *********
Outgoing Mail server
SMTP: mail.company.com
Use SSL: Off
Authentication: password
Server port: 143

Are you getting any cannot connect errors on your iphone? You could try jsmith@company.com as the username to see if that helps.
Have you tried setting it on using exchange and not IMAP?

I have tried exchange and it does not connect either. I have opened up POP3 and even tried that approach, but with no luck.
sometimes my phone has problems connecting to an IMAP server also. The only thing I can suggest now is to do a restore so it goes back to its original settings and start over. Possible something got corrupt.
Also, on an outside machine, try to setup IMAP for that same email account using Outlook and see if it connects fine. That way we can at least eliminate a firewall/exchange server issue.

We can do the OWA with no problems...I will try the reset and post back when I get his phone.

This seems to be a email server issue. Reason I say that is because the iPhones work with hotmail, gmail etc. With this 2.1 firmware update, is there some setting that needs to change on an 2003 exchange server?

I am using exchange 2003 push technology and not IMAP for our business email and it works fine some times and other times it doesn't sync until you click on the mail application. Sometimes that's the only way to sync emails. It's really spotty at best and this is why I have told my company from the beginning to stick with blackberry devices. I didn't have problems before the 2.1 upgrade aside from the horrible battery life (recharging 3x a day at least).
