I have the Compaq PRESARIO C700, i have downloaded all the compatibles drives from hp page, but it doesn't work, and it is driving me crazy.

HP Product Detection tell me my computer is a PRESARIO C7002LA, but even so. any of those driver make my wireless works.

I really don't know if it is the wrong driver, or do i have to do something special?

It's an Atheros AR242x 802.11abg card.

If you have the right drivers then one of two things may be wrong.

1)  The wireless card is bad.
2)  The wireless radio is turned off (either a switch located on the case or in the BIOS).

According to Compaq, you have a Broadcom wireless card.

Make sure the radio is turned ON or it won't find it.

Are you sure it is a c7002la? I can't find that model on the HP site. If it is a c702la, then it looks as if different wireless NICs are built into that model. One seems to be an intel pro and the other a broadcom NIC. You might be able to find out which you have by checking the invoice for the PC, or maybe by using an online chat with HP.

Also, did this work previously? If yes, and if you have made sure the radio is switched on, you could do a system restore to when it still used to work. Also check your device manager, does it show any exclamation marks?

Many HP's have a button on the case which you have to press to turn the wireless on. This button usually has a symbol that looks like an antenna, and there should also be a small lamp that indicates if it is on or not. If there is no button, look for a function key combination (All this should be explained in your manual, so read that).

I agree with rindi... I've never seen confirmation that the wireless is enabled.

The wireless switch is callout #2 in the attached image.
It has an LED in the button that is amber when disabled, and blue when the wireless is turned on.

The wireless can't be enable before the driver is installed.

In my experience the switch can enable and disable it whether the driver is installed or not. If you toggle the switch and it's not changing from amber to blue, try a different wireless card.

Good for you my friend. But in my whole experience, you can't turn On the swith without a driver installed. at least hp, compaq or toshiba. The lan card is integrated. I just need the right driver.

I just wanted to share the solution with all you. The driver for C702LA wasn't wrong, but for some reason the network wasn't ready to get able for this wirelees. i just did the next step:

1) Right clik on the wirelees network and diagnose.
2) Then, start the services of windows for wirelees network. It was not running (stopped)

And Voilet.
