What are the drawbacks to using Google Analytics??

We are looking at several solutions for web traffic monitoring. .Do you recommend Google Analytics?

We set it up for all our clients and find it excellent. It provides a lot of data in a way even our clients can understand.

It also has some advanced features like goals, tunnels, adword integration and the ability to trigger custom page hits.

Some minor things you may want to consider:
  • Google has your data!
  • Its javascript base so does not pick up some visitors including most spiders and crawlers
  • Its javascript based so only picks up html page hits (however custom hits can solve this)
  • It adds a little to the download time of a page
Its free so you can just give it a try!
