Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 Show Record Count on Grids

I'm basically trying to recreate what can be seen on this screen shot:

I would like the total records to appear on each grid. Any Ideas?

My Findings
=========
1. We have to write a custom code which execute the view behind the grid and count the whole result set. Then we can show the count by a client-side customization.
2. We can write code at grid event at row bound/item bound. where we have to put counter and we have to add html element in the aspx on the backend at crmweb folder.
 
I am confued. which approach i should follow. Pls. let me know your inputs on this.

You could do this by creating a custom plug-in that intercepts queries to the server, generates and executes another query to total the first query, and then returns this total to the client as a row in the first query's results. The client-side JavaScript for the grid could then parse the result set and update the status bar.
