Hello,
I do have a ListView control on the Form.  I made the change described in the first link you provided.  I will try this solution.  It may be 1 or 2 days before I am sure if it fixes the problem.

Thank you

We need more information about your environment, and your application configuration.  These errors are a bear to troubleshoot for myself, let alone across the wire.

I develop the program in VS2005 on a dell laptop.  After testing on the laptop, I install the program on the server (Win Server 2003, 4GB mem, dual core xeon).

The program is basically a batch processing program that gets/sends data to a web service.  The processing is done using the BackgroundWorker control and a ListView control displays the progress of the updates.  It is run every hour by the Windows Task Scheduler.

I have the My Namespace for Unhandled Exceptions setup to email me, but I am not getting emails on this error.  (see the code snippet)  Thanks for any ideas.
Private Sub MyApplication_UnhandledException(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As Microsoft.VisualBasic.ApplicationServices.UnhandledExceptionEventArgs) Handles Me.UnhandledException

            '

            Try

                SMTP.QuickSend("mail.mycompany.com", "myname@mycompany.com", "myname@mycompany.com", "DRWB Error", e.Exception.ToString, BodyPartFormat.Plain)

            Catch ex As Exception

            End Try

            '

            If Environment.UserInteractive Then

MsgBox("An unexpected error has occurred and is being reported." & vbNewLine & "The program will now close.")

            End If

            '

            e.ExitApplication = True

        End Sub

64-bit or 32-bit O/S?  Any service packs installed?  Did this ever work?  Is there anything in the event log?

All 32 bit. Laptop is XP SP2. Win Server 2003 has SP2. .NET 2.0 SP1 on both.
The program works most of the time.  Sometimes we get this error in the Event viewer:

EventType clr20r3, P1 dtxdealerrwb.exe, P2 1.0.0.0, P3 48eba7ab, P4 mscorlib, P5 2.0.0.0, P6 471ebc5b, P7 17c5, P8 1e4, P9 system.argumentexception, P10 NIL

Thanks

Here are the steps:
- In the Solution Explorer, double-click on My Project
- Click on the Application tab
- Click on the botton View Application Events
- Add the event here
- You can get the email client for free at this URL:

Could it be having that problem in the event handler, and not be able to send you an email?

It could be.  I do know that this event does work sometimes.  I have received emails on unhandled exceptions when used in other programs.

The common piece is that we only get these errors when the process is run by scheduled tasks.  If we run the batch process when connceted to the server using remote desktop, it works with no errors.  Thanks.

Then, I would think that you might be getting something in the Task Scheduler event log, about having a problem running the job.

The event log is only showing jobs with exit code of (0).  There are no jobs with errors listed.  The log does not include those jobs that caused an entry in the System event log.  Strange.

I am not sure of the circumstances when this exception occurs.  Does the application work?  Is this just a random error that occurs at unpredictable times?
