Using Outlook Express to test SMTP mailer

Hi

We have several applications that will send email to an SMTP relay, this relay then sends to the Internet.

To test applications that use this functionality, we have been advised to use Outlook Express on the servers that will have the applications installed.

Therefore, the connection will be Outlook Express > SMTP relay > Internet

Apparently this is because Outlook Express will send the FQDN of the server properly in the EHLO/HELO greeting to the SMTP relay.

However, I am wondering where we set the POP username/ password? Will this be set on the SMTP relay server? Can this be set to anonymous?

Hi CCNS

The pop3 account needs to be able to both receive and send....but I'm not sure where on the server side to create the account? What server do I need to do this on and where?
