I'm having some strange artifacts showing in PDF's I create from Illustrator. Where a raster image or effect (drop shadow) is applied in the artwork, the PDF shows lines around what would be the bounding box of that object. Attached is a screen capture showing this.

Is the document rasterized? Which version of Illustrator/Acrobat are you using? How are you creating the PDF files?

You can save PDF files from within Illustrator. Do you also see the artifacts when you try that?
Which PDF options are you using when printing to the Adobe PDF printer?

Ok, didn't know that I could actually create the PDF from the Save dialog, that got rid of the artifacts in the file. Thanks tons.
