I receive this error message every time I try to sync my new Motorola phone with my exchange 2007 server. I replaced domain name and my username for generic id's in the error message below.
Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you.

not quite sure what you have going on but can your phone chain up the cert.. meaning on your CAS server where did you get the cert that you are using?

I did try to hit it via IE and the cert is not coming up for my FQDN of mail.myserver.com.
I get an error page. I also have a stop error in my event viewer that says the FQDN cannot be located in the personal store.

I am going to get a cert for it from goDaddy and see if that fixes the problem.

If you have a private cert, you need to install it on the device so it can chain it up.... If the cert does not match your FQDN you should get that resolved. Its sounds like you are using the self signed cert from the install?

I am using the self signed certification that was part of the install. The certification uses the FQDN of my internal local domain. I'll get a new cert now and will check back in a few minutes.

Thanks.

k, you can generate a new self signed one with all the correct info with the new-exchangecertificate
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998327(EXCHG.80).aspx

If you get one from Go dady- make sure you get all the names on the cert and the first is your external url...... autodiscover,etc...

my router has ssl port 443 opened as well.

now i recieve an error message stating

Okay,

I put mail.mydomain.com/microsoft-server-activesync in my phone.
I still get an error code of 0x80072f7d

I can hit the link from the web and it asks me for my username and password in the web browser.
I read that the last exchange roll up that was released broke active sync and it should be removed for active sync to work properly.

Since I added the certificate I started receiving this error message:

Microsoft Exchange couldn't find a certificate that contains the domain name mail.mydomain.com in the personal store on the local computer. Therefore, it is unable to offer the STARTTLS SMTP verb for any connector with a FQDN parameter of mail.mydomain.com. Verify the connector configuration and the installed certificates to make sure that there is a certificate with a domain name for every connector FQDN.

Any ideas?

All you put in your phone is this... mail.mydomain.com

it will connect to the needed vdir.....

after the new cert you need to use the get-exchangeservercertificate and make sure its enabled for IIS etc....

The solution you provided was correct. I had errors on my install of exchange 2007 and I had an incorrect domain name in my certificate. All in all it is working now and once I realized what was wrong, it was easy to fix.
