How to broadcast machine IP?

In asp.net 3.5, how can I have my machine broadcast its IP address to a remote website?  I have full control over both sites (remote is hosted site) with .NET 3.5 installed.  I guess the local machine could periodically writes its IP address to a file in the remote machine and then the remote machine just picks it up.  Is there a better way?

your approach will work but will need shared folders so that local machine can write to the remote machine

another solution i can think of is through sockets
create a service which listens to the port on the remote server and when the local server sends some data to that port the remote machine application picks it up and processes it as required

In this case there will be no lag and the shares have not to be exposed

Thanks.  I'll check if I have that sort of permission since it is a hosted service.

My hosting service is telling this:

This might be done with the front page extension, you can make a private file which accept and note down the IP which dumped into.

Any idea what they are talking about?  I don't want to use FrontPage Extensions if I don't have to.
