We have a strange issue where a user account is showing up in the GAL resources section. We are running exchange 2003 and the user's job is "resource planner". Has anyone experienced this? I would like to know how to remove his name from the resource section of the GAL without affecting his user account. Thank you.

I apologize...I should have written address book as opposed to Global Address List.

Resources appearing in Address book - is this some custom made address list at Exchange level / Outlook Level ? Since, if it is at Exchange level - i can tell you how to move a mailbox from that particular address list - but please clarify my doubts - thanks.

No wonder i have not heard of it. Well, what has the filter been applied for it.

For example some people filter by customattribute or department or office, if you remove the filter from that user (for example if you remove the basis how the user is being shown in that address list). the user would no longer be associated with that particular address list (and i guess that is what u want)

The issue all along was that his Job title was Resource Planner and the custom address list is entitled Resources...for some reason, as you alluded to, this placed him in that address list. Sorry for the clunky information to kick this question off. Thank you for your help.
