Print spooler continually stops

The problem began when I couldn't print.  This error (or one similar occured) with the following results.

"Before you can perform printer-related tasks such as page setup or printer a document, you need to install a printer.  Do you want to install a printer now?  YES  NO"

YES

"Operation could not be completed.  The print spooler service is not running."

When I checked the printer - fax in the Control Panel there are no printers listed, just add printer.  When ADD PRINTER is double clicked I received this message -

"Operation could not be completed.  The print spooler service is not running."

After some investigation I went to Control Panel/Administrative tools/services/printer spooler.  Right click - *properties*.

Service status - Stopped  clicked "START"

Spooler started - problem solved, not yet.

Back to printers & faxes double click, same error as above, back to "Services" / printer spooler/ Properties.  Service status in stopped again.

After more checking I entered ? info in the run command and this is what returned -
[SC] GetServiceConfig SUCCESS

SERVICE_NAME: spooler
        TYPE               : 110  WIN32_OWN_PROCESS (interactive)
        START_TYPE         : 2   AUTO_START
        ERROR_CONTROL      : 1   NORMAL
        BINARY_PATH_NAME   : C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe
        LOAD_ORDER_GROUP   : SpoolerGroup
        TAG                : 0
        DISPLAY_NAME       : Print Spooler
        DEPENDENCIES       : RPCSS
        SERVICE_START_NAME : LocalSystem

I'm STUMPED do you have any guidance/suggestions?  Thanks lots!!

I have since checked the Computer management and there are lots of errors most of which I cannot figure out.
