Nothing happens when LS action button is pressed

I have a subform with action buttons which is used in 2 forms.

The problem is that with one form an button is working ok, but nothing happens in the other form!! not even a print before the actual code!

We have a mixed environment..R5 & R6.. So I have to design using R5... I tested it in R6 and the button worked in both forms..

I also tried copying the action button into both forms.. to make sure the problem is not related to the subform..

Any idea why this is happening?

Post the code.
Have you tried to use debugger to see what actually happens?

You do not have 2 forms with the same name, one with and the other without the subform? Are the subforms included by formula, or fixed?

Crude solution: stop your Notes client, and remove Cache.ndk (or cache.dsk) from the Notes data directory. Then try again.

- debugger doesn't even come up.. its like there isn't any code in the click event
- I tried it on another pc and there was the same problem, so i don't think deleting the cache will solve it.. will try just in case
- fixed subforms
- there's only one form with that name,

oh and I also tried using the button in the template.. just in case the test db was corrupt and it still didn't work

If you could send me a test.nsf database with the form and subform, in a working situation, so I test it over here? My mail address is in my EE-profile.

By the way, who said you cannot develop in R6 for R5?? I agree it is better not to do it, but it is possible. If you develop on local databases, and you want to retain the R5-database format, rename the databases to .ns5 or .nt5. But generally that's not required when you use R5 and/or R6 server. The disk format is not an issue during replication.

actually have to cater for some r4 clients :/
hopefully not for long! it's a bit depressing after getting used to working with r6!

unfortunately i can't send you the actual form..its a bit of sensitive process etc etc..will try to simulate the prob in a bare copy of the form & subform

The copy will do, provided it acts the same as the original one. By the way, I'm very sensitive too...

And R4?? I think I even scrapped all my R4-backups by now. So no R3.21 around eh? Pity ;-)

could it be that there's a limit on the number of button in a form in r5?

A limit? Never heard of it.

> ... move the button further up...
meaning: more to the bottom of the list of actions? Seems very strange to me. Although, in R5...

Or are the buttons IN your subform, as real buttons, and not action buttons?

Glad you solved your puzzle!

basically, the r5 client seems ignore the contents of the buttons at the bottom of the action list (as seen in the designer)..and subform buttons are appended at the end of the list

to test this i had to paste the buttons into the main form, so i could play around with the order

You have to turn debugger on after opening the document. Then the debugger will be shown for documents that are created (and opened) from the LS.
