Do you need the flash player to play all types of flash files (pls read question for details)

I am using adobe captivate to produce swf files and using multimedia builder as a wrapper application.

The first page of the app has a little html window where I have placed a html page with a flash video
swf, just introducing the app, and also as a test as to whether the user has the flash player installed, and if not, to click a button to install it.

Problem is, I tried this on another computer and un installed the flash player plug in (does not have flash cs3 or anything on it ) and the original video still played.

Infact other videos also played, so whats going on. (I need to know this becasue i am saying to the user, if you can see the video on the start screen, you dont need to install flash)

Also, could you suggest something i could try in the html, that apolutely definatly neeeds adobe flash
player to be installed so i can test this.

I notice when i roll over these swf files the tooltip says

Shockwave Flash Object

I know there is a shockwave player - I have not included this player. Is that the right thing to do.

does your wrapper application you're using not elimate the need for the client to have the plugin by including it?I know other 3rd party app wrappers like SWF sTudio do that so you dont' need the flash plugin.
