Issues with back ticks operator

Hi,

I am running a small application using php using the backtick operator (``). when I run the application outside PHP it runs fine and dumps the output in an output file in 1 minute

However when I run it from PHP, It keeps going forever. Also it does create the output files but does not write to it.

I went to process explorer and saw that the application executable is being run as a process under svchost.

It looks like windows or PHP is locking it.

Can anyone help ? Thanks a ton in advance

This is probably a permissions problem. In each case it's running as a different user, so check that the PHP user has sufficient privileges for where it's writing to.

I would have thought that any security violations would be logged somewhere, but I don't know exactly where. I'm not really the one to ask about Windows sysadmin...
