Changing SA password in SQL 2005 causes lsass.exe shutdown and server restart

We have been remediating our Servers using Retina and GoldDisk as our survey tools. We had to update our SQL 2005 SA password and got this error.  Also our systems were pushed out Symantec 10.1.6000. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I found the problem - it was a bad version of the EnPasFlt.dll file - (dated 4/2007).
Installing the same file dated 1/2000 works fine.
Thanks for your help.

Have you tried running this query?

sp_password @old = null, @new = 'new_password', @loginame ='sa'

Have found that the error only occurs when I have the EnPasFlt.dll from NSA installed.
When I remove this from the registry (HKLM/System/Control/LSA/Notification packages) and from the c:/windows/system32 folder, I can change the password with no problem.

Could the Enpasflt.dll file be corrupt?

Maybe. Try to reinstall it.
