WCF performance troubles

I'm working on a WCF service .... it's effectively a create-read-update-delete service that exposes four databases.

The service has around 80x functions and is published as a web service. Operations are much slower than executing locally. How can we improve performance?

Thanks

you need to provide us more information regarding how is the design of CRUD operations
what you think is slowing your operations down
Without looking at the code or the logic we cannot say anything why your web service is slowing down the operations
