Hi,
I have just joined a company where the technology there using isn't the one I used to ( I'm a microsoft man). Well they used the brower as web client where it will look for tomcat server and this in turn looking for Jbos server. JBoss server will connected to sql server and the web services, can somebody explain to me how these all work together please as everything seems bit complex to me at the moment.

Thanks!

I know this may sound pretty vague but I can't tell much without knowing what actually is this application. But I'll give a short picture of how this can be done. Web browser is fairly simple I believe. When you point the browser to tomcat, then most likely you have java web application which is using JSP/Servlets running on tomcat.[WEB TIER] This application is most likely using services deployed on Jboss which are deployed as EJBs or Enterprise Java Beans.[BUSINESS/SERVICE TIER] EJBs implement business logic and they need access to data which in this case is accessed  from MS SQL server. [DATA TIER] Web services provide various services like data feeds or some operations. EJBs can connect to one or more web services to perform the business logic. [ANOTHER SERVICE TIER]
Hope this helps!
