Relaying through Exchange Server 2003
I have an Exchange Server 2003. There is an AIX server running an Oracle Database.
The Scenario is that this AIX server should send emails via our Exchange Server 2003 to other SMTP Domains using IMAP4. In other words this AIX server should be able to relay emails through our Exchange Server. My Exchange Server is already configured for IMAP4 and is able to send and receive emails using the IMAP protocol.
Thanks
Vignesh

Hi Gupnit
I shall do the steps mentioned by you. Moreover should i add this only on the Front End server or even on the Back End Server. FYI i've 2 front end servers so should i add this enrty on both the Front End servers. Also i hope there would be no spamming that would happen after i do these steps. Kindly clarify.
Thanks

Hi Nitin...
Now comes the major issue. I checked on ESM and all the options mentioned by you are already specified. Now the AIX admin has changed his requirement. He wants his Unix server to relay through my Exchange Server without any authentication. In other words the unix server should send mails to other SMTP Domains like yahoo.com,gmail.com, etc using the exchange server. Anonumyus access has already been enabled on the Exchange Server and the Unix server IP address has been granted the relay permission on the Exchange Server. Just for your info. my Exchange Server fwds. all mails to my Sendmail Smart Host and the smart host to the internet. The entry point of emails are first to Sendmail and then Sendmail to Exchange.
Kindly assist on how to enable this requirement.
Thanks and Best Regards

Hi Nitin...
I've attached the screen shots of the SMTP connector as a word file. The IP address 172.20.2.22 is the Unix server that should relay through the Exchange.
Kindly Assist

Hi,
From the Linux Server use Manual SMTP commands and try to relay via Exchange server and see what error you are getting.
I see the settings are spot on in terms of allowing the Server to relay from Exchange

Hi Nitin...Good Morning. Just woke up...
When i configure a profile in Outlook using IMAP settings with no autentication, i am not able to send emails outside the company. It comes back with the error code 550:5.7.1 unable to relay. This is what that needs to be fixed.
Pls Advise

Make sure that you allow the AIX Server IP to relay via the Exchange server.
Heres how you can do it.
Go to ESM-> Administrative Groups-> Locate your Server(FE Server if you have one)
Protocols->SMTP-> Default SMTP Virtual Server
Right Click Properties
Go to Access Tab-> Relay Restrictions-> Click on Relay
Add your AIX servers IP Address here.
Hope this helps
Thanks
