Meeting update error: "The item could not be saved because it has been changed by another user or in another window"

Hi there,

We implemented a BlackBerry Enterprise Server in July and things have gone fairly smoothly, with the exception of the executive assistant. She is equipped with a BlackBerry device (Curve 8310 -
provisioned through enterprise activation, not desktop software) in an Exchange 2003/Windows XP/Office 2003 environment.

She handles the scheduling and updating of our executive's meetings, and periodically receives the following error when trying to modify an appointment sent from her own mailbox: "The item could not be saved because it has been changed by another user or in another window." Office is fully patched (as referenced here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935411) and RIM's support site only references an Office XP specific issue. She brought it to my attention today and I tried switching her to cached mode to see if that helps, but it's too soon to tell.

The best reference I've found thus far is this: http://www.blackberryforums.com/bes-admin-corner/120091-item-could-not-saved-because-has-been-changed.html, which is similar, but deals with accepting meetings, not updating them.

Any feedback is appreciated.

  • Update Ms. Exchange Server completely
  • Same as on BB server
  • restart both servers after updation

Her calendar is not shared. When you say update the Exchange and BES server, are you referring to Microsoft updates? If so, we have a monthly maintenance period, during which applicable Microsoft updates are applied. The most recent update and reboot was approximately 3 weeks ago, but this problem has been persisting for multiple months.

Any other ideas you might have are appreciated.

Anybody have any ideas on this one? The issue still persists for our user and the Exchange and BES servers are up to date. Her calendar is not shared. She told me earlier today that whenever she encounters this issue with a particular meeting request, she just waits a few days, tries it again, and it works fine. I'm really not sure where to go from here.
