SSH access to ASA 5510

I have probelm access my ASA 5510 through ssh occasionally. Using ssh with putty, it pop up a message at once "Server unexpectedly closed network connection.

The problem will be solved when I reboot the box. However, after few days, it come up with error again.  Have any idea ??

Hi there;

Please check whether there is any firewall using the iptables -L
Check whether the SSH server configurations had any restrictive users to login

My Cisco ASA doesn't restrictive any users, only use username and password to control the access.

Could issue "iptables -L" on Cisco ASA ? What should I need to check on my box ?

How often does this happen? If there is a loss of connectivity (network drops) during the session, you will be disconnected.

Just pop up with the message, reboot the ASA and it is back to normal again.

However, after few days later, using putty ssh will pop up the error again. It is nothing to do with network connection as everytime when the problem appear, reboot will solve the problem...

Hmmm... what ASA software version are you running?
I recommend upgrading to:
ASA 8.0.4
ASDM 6.1.3
Here's the link. Let me know if that works! These upgrades solve a lot of bugs.

Is upgrade to ASA 8.04 is free of charge, or I need to pay for the upgrade license ?

The upgrade is free if you have a SmartNET contract... I think it's like $350 USD/year for the 5510 but it's completely worth it. You get unlimited 24/7 tech support and advanced warranty replacement no questions asked if something goes wrong.
Also, if you have a CCO account you can login and download it that way.
Just make sure you upgrade the ASA and ASDM at the same time and the versions must match or the ASDM won't work.
