partition suse to accomodate windows

Hi,

           My HDD capacity is 500 gb. I have installed linux 11 on it. Find attached file for a view of the break up of space. I need to install windows. When i try to create partition of 200 gb (last option in the image ) then the windows installation says " it cannot create partition " already maximum partition exist"

Before you start repartitioning, I suggest you look at a different approach. Install the free VmWare Server and then install Windows as a Virtual Machine inside that. As long as your CPU is good enough and you have enough RAM this works very well, and you have the advantages that you don't have to worry about the windows installation destroying your SuSE boot loader, and you can run both OS's at the same time, no need to worry about rebooting to get into the other OS. Of course there are also other Virtualization tools like Xen (could be part of SuSE), Virtualbox or QEmu, but I have had the best experience with VmWare.

Hi,

          Is this vmware for windows or linux. Knowing that i only have linux loaded on my pc, that it is  not allowing me to install windows.  If vmware is a windows based s/w how m i to install it from  linux. What other alternatives are present.

It's for both, there is even a MAC version. That's one of the advantages of VmWare, you can use different OS's as hosts, while the other products I know only work on specific Host OS's.

After you have registered with VmWare, you get your keys mailed to you (both, the key for Linux and the key for M$ OS's), and then you get to the download site and select the version for your OS (SuSE would use the rpm installer).
