Good evening -
I have an application that I built ... It's a threaded discussion board application that I've been running for many years now. It's written in pure ASP and has a SQL backend -
Lately, for no reason, it just crawls to a halt - IN fact, earlier today, I was getting an error that the SQL connection was no available - I have also been getting Dr. Watson errors too -
So, today I moved the application to another server also running windows 2003 R2 SP2 and a page that usually comes up in 1-2 seconds still can take 20-30 seconds
I've tried to monitor several things in performance monitor
The memory and processor utilization are both very low ... and i usually don't get more than 160 concurrent users. What i did notice is that the pages/sec sometimes goes from zero to 500 or 700...but I have a ton of free memory. in fact, total RAM is 4192400, Availalbe is 2629580 and cache is 22708644...
Why am I getting so many pages/sec if i have so much free memory? Could that be part of the problem?
Also, the SQL server which is on another server ... in the last few months, it appears that some commands I give to the serer through the SQL manager seem to execute very slowly ... however the applications that access the DB seem to go very quick (except this problem I'm having now) --
The problem with IIS seems to occur when the user load starts getting high -- Just looking for what performance counters I should be monitoring on both the IIS and SQL side - -Thanks so much for the help
