Sluggish responsiveness for mouse/keyboard upon wakening from sleep mode

When the PC wakens from sleep mode the wireless mouse and keyboard are slow to respond. Pressing a letter on the keyboard may or may not generate a letter on the screen. It may take numerous clicks to activate the letter. Likewise, the mouse may require numerous clicks to get a an actual activated click. The mouse moves fine, it is just the action of clicking that is the issue. After about 2 or 3 minutes beyond recovering from sleep the moue and keyboard work fine. Everything had worked fine up to some point in the recent past(3 months?) when I suspect MS updates may have buggered things up.

Upon scouring the web I see numerous issues with Vista sleep mode and USB so I suspect this has something to do with Vista more than it has to do with the wireless desktop.

Any thoughts?

Vista has been known to slowly reload USB upon coming back from sleep mode, last i checked this is a known issue that will be addressed by microsoft eventually.

I personally was hoping this was going to be fixed with sp1.

Well I suppose I was hoping for something more than that but having scoured everywhere else on the web I guess I'm not surprised.
