How to recover bitlocker encrypted drive?

I have a laptop that has the data encrypted on its hdd, it does not use a TPM, this laptop has a major hardware problem so will not boot anymore, how can I access the data by switching the drive to another machine or drive enclosure, etc? (I have the encryption key)

Thanks

Hi, to save having to go through this process, if I could locate another laptop of the same make and model and swapped its hdd for mine, would that work? or would windows detect that it was not installed on this hardware? (the model would be the same, just not the same machine)

If the other system has the exact same hardware components this MAY work -- the worst case may be a requirement for re-activation;  but Bitlocker should work fine ... again, the worse case would be that it required you to confirm the key (which you have).
