How do I monitor the outbound Queue length (using perfmon) of the imc, if all mail is set to forward to a smart host?

I have tried monitoring the "MSExchangeMTA Connections" object &  "Queue Length" counter for the IMC but this never seems to grow above zero, is this because there is currently no problem with the smart host, therefore the queue never grows?

Hi,
You are on track, it is good that your setup is smooth.
Here is a free tool that you can use to monitor health and queues :: http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Look-Exchange-Monitor-2003-Tool.html
Also look at various options you can configure in your Server:
Hope this helps

Thanks Nitin, but all your solutions are for Exchange 2003 not Exchange 5.5.

It actually turns out I the perfmon counter MSExchangeIMC was missing. I managed to add this again and then I was able to monitor the queues correctly.

Think I made a mistake in closing this question. Since I managed to resolve this myself, I would like my points refunded minus 20 points for gupnit for pointing me in the right direction.

Thanks,
