VS 2008 how to publish an asp.net website and access the homepage?

I opened up visual studio 2008 and did NEW > WEBSITE (per a turorial) and added a button and some text to say HI THERE NAME! Works great when I run it in VS 2008. WHen I upload the folder contents (C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\Chapter15) to my ASP.NET supported godaddy webserver and go to the URL it fails with various errors. When I publish it to a local folder and run it it fails with:

The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A name was started with an invalid character. Error processing resource 'file:///C:/Inetpub/wwwroot/ttk/Input.aspx'. Line ...

<%@ page language="C#" autoeventwireup="true" inherits="Input, App_Web_qstt6wk6" %>
-^

This is my first attempt to get to my webpage www.url.\folder\file.aspx

Any thoughts?

It looks like you have not setup your IIS to run ASP.NET 2.0 ... if you have access to it, check that the application is running as a 2.0 app instead of a 1.1 app
