So, how do I remove uneeded updates

Use the console and do it from the Server Cleanup Wizard.

I've run that.  It only compresses files.  I am trying to run WSUSDebugTool deleteuneccesary files but it hangs and never finishes

The command should be:

wsusutil deleteunneededrevsions

Is that just a typo above?
