From within code I make a document using merge fields. This document has to been send by email using Microsoft Word. I have allready found how to send the email, but I want to change the From Address using code. How can I do that from within code?

What method are you using to send the mail from word?  SMTP?

So you are using an Email Template?
and you want the email address that it comes from to be not specific to the user running the merge, but rather another user.

I've seen it done, but it involved unsupported changes to the aspx pages and a workflow.

I would play with the WorkFlows and see if you can add a button so that a manual change could be made.
