Images won't load in linked pages in preview

1.  My main index.htlml page previews fine on its own in by browser (e.g. File > Preview in Browser).

2.  Other pages linked to from my main index.html in my local site display fine if I preview the page (e.g. aboutus.html) directly from within DW.

However if I try to link to a page while in preview mode (for example with main index.html open in browser, clicking link to aboutus.html), the linked page loads but none of the images load.  To test further, I create a very simple one line of text page for aboutus.html.  This will load and display fine when linked to in the preview browser from index.html.  If I simply drag a jpg image onto this same page, right under the line of text, save it, and try linking to it again from index.html in the preview browser, the page loads, the text is displayed correctly but the image doesn't load (red X in an otherwise empty outline frame where the picture would be).

My site is defined as a local site with Links Relative set to Site Root.

I check w IE7, Firefox, Opera and Safari; same problem on all of them so not likely a browser issue.

Thx

Rouchie,
Thx for responding.  The problem was in my site definition.  Apologies for not responding sooner ... have been away from the site
