Hi..

I use Symantec Backup Exec" System Recovery to protect our Exchange server.

If I restore the contents of the MDBDATA directory back to a different directory on the same exchange server is there a way I can recovery indiviual items or restore the complete information store.

I know how to do it with a tape but lets suppose the tape drive broke and I have no tape backup..

This article should help:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/824126

About 2/3 down the page you'll see 'Restore a Mailbox Store to the Recovery Storage Group'...underneath that you'll want the section named 'Manually Copy Database Files to a Recovery Storage Group'
