Any idea what would cause this error other than a potential incompatability?

We have been experimenting with running NTBackup on server 2008 32x.  There is some evidence of this working from the web, but we figured to ask about it.  We currently have Volume Shadow Copy set to run automatic, but also got the same error when having it set to Manual.  We are just wanting to determine if this error occurs solely due to incompatability, or if there is a way to get past it.

In my mind this is simply evidence that the NTBackup is incompatible with Server 2008.  Query interface is one of the most basic COM object methods.  For there to be an error in this does not bode well.

The error code simply means interface not supported.  If I had to make a guess the NTBackup is getting back a COM object from a request.  The object it gets does not support the same interface that would have been supported by the object returned from the same request being run on previous windows versions.  In other words... incompatible.

I wish I could tell you how to fix it other than to say run it on a previous OS version.
