I'm moving my wife from a W98 machine to an new XP Box and one of the peripherals I'm going to connect is the HP Scanjet 5590. I'd rather throw the damn thing out, and not install the nonsense they call software, but...

1. Should I just download the latest TWAIN driver and utilities and skip the software package?
2. Will she be able to scan documents and photos with just the TWAIN?
3. Will the ADF work with just the TWAIN?
4. We also use Adobe Standard and Omnipage OCR with the scanner. Any problems I should think about there?

I doubt the ADF will work with TWAIN - and you are going to need an imaging program to "accuire the TWAIN image". Photoshop is probably the best (but not fast at all), I believe there are freeware scanning programs that can use TWAIN, but I've never used one before.

Thanks, alikaz3. I'll install the full software package and hope for the best.
