Roll-over of two internet connections in different buildings?

Here's the situation I have -

I'm managing a network w/  1 2003 SBS, 1 2003 member server and about 40 or so client machines running XP.  Currently, our internet connection is coming from a satellite connection.  We're putting a T1 in to handle the majority of our phone lines (12) and give an internet connection for the other 12 channels.
The Satellite connection comes into Building A into a cisco 800 router.   The T1 is going to be terminated into Building B into an AdTran router which is about 400 feet away and connected via fiber.  We've got client machines in both Building A and Building B.

What I'd like to do is set it up so that the Satellite internet connection and the  T1 connection are used together for load-balancing / fail-over, but since they are not coming into the same location, I was unsure if I'd be able to do that.  Also, What would be the impact on our remote users who VPN into the system via our current public IP address (on the cisco and the open ports get forwarded appropriately) .  The configuration would obviously change, but would the fail-over protect the remote users as well?

Thanks,
Patrick

I would stay away from trying to load share between the t1 and satellite. You can configure for failover. I am not sure about SLAs on adtran routers though. can you post the specific model adtan and configs from all routing equipment?

Is the adtran going to be performing NAT? or are you going to bring it into the 800 series router. The 800 series must be an 871 or better for this to go easy.

The Router is a cisco 851 (in Building A) and the Adtran is a total access 616.

I am currently monitoring our peak bandwidth usage in order to see if in fact we really need both connections or if the 768k connection on the T1 will be sufficient.  However, since the satellite connection is cheap in terms of bandwidth, I'll keep it around until I'm sure of our peak and average bandwidth usage.

I'm basically looking for the best way to utilize the extra bandwidth and reliability or the T1, given the current limitations in terms of locations.  Eventually, when the new phone system gets put in (probably 12-18 months down the line) everything will be run into one location and I can just get a router that will handle the fail over and load balancing, but until then, we're sorta stuck w/ the telephony and T1 into one building and the satellite into another.
