Automated Email Archive for Exchange on SBS

Hi, can anyone assist in finding an automated email archive for SBS? What I'm looking for is something simple and cost effective (i.e. priced for the SMB market) that effectively replaces Outlook auto-archive to a local PST file with something that runs on the SBS and automatically archives mails from Exchange older than a certain date. It must also have an Outlook plug-in that provides seamless access to archived mail. Already looked at and discounted:

Exchange@PAM: too expensive for SBS clients
MailAttender/Archiver: cannot be installed on the SBS box
GFI Mail Archiver: more a mail duplicator than archiver
MailArchivePro: also a duplicator rather than archiver
Symantec Enterprise Vault: too expensive and aimed at larger businesses
Various SaaS solutions: looking for in-house solution, not hosted.

Many thanks,
Adam

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Yes I've looked at many more than I noted in my question and tried demo versions of many. Each suffers from one of three basic problems, making them unsuitable for small businesses:

- aimed at the bigger companies hence licenses too costly and/or require additional hardware.
- duplicate all mail (typically through journalling) rather than just archiving old mail.
- don't integrate with Outlook so not user friendly to typical SMB users.

There has to be a company out there that has developed something to replace Outlook Auto-archive with something similar that runs against Exchange - surely!?!

Seems this is a difficult ask and there's nothing quite suitable out there. Archive providers take note!

Therefore current plan is to stick with Auto-Archive and use a suitable PST file sync app to maintain an up-to-date copy of the local archive PST files on a server share. Now to find such an app....
