powerpoint 2007 crashes while working with SmartArt graphics
while working in powerpoint with a SmartArt Graphic the software crashes. i have checked for updates etc. I have inserted the Office Professional disk and repaired the software. no luck.

I have the same problem on a system that I am working on. If you change your default printer from an HP to anything else, I bet your problem goes away. I believe the issue is with and HP printer driver.

The smart art functionality in office 2007 is buggy as hell, the moment that you start creating complex diagrams.
I doubt that there will be an answer on EE, as I think it's due to an implementation that hasn't been thoroughly tested.
I've had issues where when re-opening a powerpoint deck, that slides with smart art were corrupted, and replaced with blank slides.
Saving down to 2003 format solves that problem, but it's a pain.
Anyway...good luck with trying to find an answer - I'd just keep on submitting the error reports to microsoft.
