Exchange server 2007 / send connector

Hi,
Today we have our exchange server, wehre emails are sending taking too much it is showing in outbox and going very very slowly
is there anything we have to check troubleshoot this issue

Please check queues (Exchange Management Console or get-queue from shell). Send Connector has been configured to work with DNS / Smart Host ?? Check if there is no network connectivity problems between your server and the next hop to the internet.

Disabled anti-virus / third-party applications to check if this helps your situation better.
