I found how to solve equations with Excel.
But don't have any idea how to do it with Numbers.
Example:
2x+4=800
x=?

The value x is in B1
Set some cell to this formula
=2*B1+4
Highlight that cell and select Tools | Goal Seek. It will prompt you Set cell: (cell you highlighted)  To value: enter 800 By changing cell: enter B1, because that is where x is.
Press OK. Excel will find the value of x (=398) and if you press OK it will put 398 in cell B1.

That is a solution for Excel.
