Cisco 7301 Gig port MTU adjust

I have two 7301s configured for PPPoE VPDN  as LAC - LNS.
These are directly connected using a Gig port on each 7301.

Can I increase the MTU for the ports so that I can carry PPP payload of more than 1500 bytes without fragmenting ?

Can VPDN / L2TP be configured to enable the transport of payloads larger than 1500 without fragmentation ?

Easy:

interface Vlan1
 mtu 3000

-or-

interface Gig1/0
 mtu 1600

Just make sure that the MTU size it the same on the other end of the cable :P
