I need to reset the bios password on a Gateway ML3109 notebook. Im not sure who makes my bios so I dont know if there is a backdoor. Im also open to removing cmos battery from the motherboard but I have not been able to locate it. If anyone has a backdoor password or a schematic showing where the cmos battery is that would be a huge help. Thanks!

on modern laptops, you cannot reset the password, it is stored in a security chip - so you need to contact Gateway, show proof of ownership - and then they may help
otherwise, you need to replace the mobo

I gave in and took the notebook apart,  removed the cmos battery for ten minutes and it reset the bios password.

To get at the the cmos battery in a gateway ML3109 you must remove the keyboard, hard drive, unmount the lcd screen from the main unit, split the case apart, remove the cable for the touch pad, remove the cd drive, pull the mother board out and flip it toward you. Once flipped the battery is located on the bottom left hand corner of the motherboard.
