Exchange 2003 delayed delivery messages

I have an exchange 2003 server and some of my users have said that they are sporadically getting delivery delayed messages when sending to different domains. The majority of the time when they get the delayed delivery message they end up with a failed message. I personally have not had any of these messages and I use my email quite often to outside addresses. In order to cover my bases and make sure there are no issues on my end, what should I be checking?

Check the outgoing queues to see if there are emails pending.  Also, you should take a look at the non-delivery reports that the user is getting.  Most of the time, when we get complaints about people sporadically gettings message delayed or non-deliveries, it is from users mistyping email addresses.  alo.com instead of aol.com and so on.  That is why the first thing I ask for is a copy of the failed delivery message so I can determine why it failed.
