BlackBerry 8830 message folder redirection stopped working

my BlackBerry 8830 is configured for folder redirection.  my organization uses a BES with Exchage 2003.  my outlook is configured to route emails to subfolders in my inbox through rules.  All of these things were playing nicely together and then stopped suddenly, after I 'viewed' a folder and then tried to return to the originally configured view.

I have
- rebooted (removed battery)
- turned off reconciliation and then turned on reconciliation
- de-selected all redirected folders/selected all redirected folders with and without reboots in between

Are you sure that hidden messages are set to display? You can quickly toggle this from the messages view by pressing "H" or messages > options > general settings > hide filed messages: NO
