Upgrade from BES Small Business to Professional?

I have BES Small Biz Edition, or so I think. It is running the latest SP, 4.1.6.10. I purchased a 5th CAL and went to add it and was told "The license being added is not compatible with the existing keys..." Basically I purchased a CAL for BES Full. I then found out I could upgrade to Professional for free and Professional would accept my CAL.

I d/l and tried to install SP4 to upgrade to Professional. When I run it I get "Cannot upgrade to older version." I tried looking in add/remove hoping that I could just un-install the SP's so I could get back to 4.1.3 and then step back up.

Any ideas on how I can get BES Pro up and running?

Whoah back up! BES Professional and BES Full blown are the same software. the only difference is the keys! Here is a clip from blackberry's website:

Expanding Your Deployment
As your business grows, you can easily add BlackBerry smartphone users by purchasing additional Client Access Licenses (CALs) or an upgrade kit.

Up to 30 users
When youre ready to add more users to your BlackBerry Professional Software, you can purchase additional CALsup to a maximum of 30 total users. BlackBerry Professional Software supports BlackBerry® Enterprise Server CALs and is backward compatible with BlackBerry® Enterprise Server Small Business Edition CALs.

Beyond 30 users
To expand your deployment beyond 30 users, you can upgrade to BlackBerry Enterprise Server by purchasing a BlackBerry® Enterprise Server Trade-up Key. You can purchase the upgrade key through your wireless service provider or online from the BlackBerry Store.

As you can see.. you dont need to do much. I would recommend you call RIM up and get your Enterprise key swapped out for the Small biz edition key.

If you are on 4.1.6, you have SP6 on... so SP4 wont install. You have the newest software available.

Actually SMB and Enterprise are the exact same, only CAL differences. Even the download and install are the same. Professional is a slightly stripped down version of Enterprise for small or non-dedicated IT depts.

I contacted RIM and they said my only option for going from SMB 4.1.6 to Professional was to uninstall SMB and install Professional. Lots of room for error in that so I ended up just returning the Enterprise CAL and am waiting on my SMB CAL to get emailed to me.
