I have backup exec with the Central Administration Server License installed, but I don't know where to begin settings this up,

I have another server running backup exec 10d and tried setting the central administration server to the server with the CASO license installed, but get an error

"failed to set the central administration server. An attempt to read the registry on the specified remote media server failed. Make sure server has backup exec installed and is a central administration server.

Check whether you have the MMS component installed on the 10d server. See https://forums.symantec.com/syment/board/message?board.id=103&thread.id=54791

Also, you may run into problems when you keep a Backup Exec 10d MMS with a Backup Exec 12 CAS
