Multi column/multi select gridview or listbox

I am converting an Access listbox to ASP.NET.  The user needs two columns and multi select rows.  (blocks of rows).  The listbox doesn't provide multi columns and the gridview doesn't allow multi select without adding a checkbox.  Is ther a clean way of reproducing the Access listbox?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Thanks for the reply.  I have seen this solution before.  Is there any way to get the gridview to be multi select without using a checkbox?

no the gridview is only made for a single selection
as you have already found out that the multi select is only possible through check boxes
i am attaching a code project link which you might have looked as a way forward
